General Info

Tucked right in the heart of Invercargill, Sip Society Cafe is one of those spots that instantly feels welcoming the moment you step inside. The atmosphere is relaxed yet lively, making it an easy choice whether you're catching up with friends, grabbing a quick bite, or settling in for a slow morning coffee.

What really stands out here is the menu. It’s thoughtfully put together, offering a mix of comforting classics and slightly elevated café favorites. The Eggs Benedict is a must-try-perfectly poached eggs layered over a rich base that feels indulgent without being too heavy. On another visit, the Salmon Bagel hit the spot with its fresh, balanced flavors, while the Seafood Chowder with Ciabatta delivered something warm and satisfying, especially on a cooler day. And if you have even a small sweet tooth, the Salted Caramel treat or the Fudge Slice are hard to resist-both rich, satisfying, and just the right amount of indulgent.

Beyond the food, the cafe experience is rounded out by a genuinely great tea selection. It’s clear that just as much attention goes into beverages as into the dishes themselves. Whether you're a coffee regular or someone who prefers a calming cup of tea, there’s something here that fits the mood.

What makes this place memorable isn’t just the food or the location-it’s how everything comes together. The service feels genuine, the menu offers enough variety to keep things interesting, and the overall vibe encourages you to stay a little longer than planned. It’s the kind of cafe where reviews often mention consistency, comfort, and a sense of community-all things you quickly notice once you’ve spent some time there.

What customers say?

“ This place was buzzing mainly due to the steady stream of bikers that were down for Burt Munro event. Customer service was second to none! The cafe was open plan and inviting with a good amount of seating. Cabinet food looked amazing with plenty of sweet and savory options to capture any taste buds. Simple menu above the kitchen but sometimes that's what's makes a great establishment succeed. My order Regular Latte Eggs Benedict with bacon Lolly cake slice Latte was beautiful, Hot, strong and just the right amount of milk, Exactly how I like it. Eggs Benedict oh my the presentation was Impeccable. You know it's going to be a good Eggs Benedict when you break the egg and the inside comes oozing out. From the well cooked bacon, the warm soft English muffin and the delicious hollandaise sauce I honestly think this is the best I have ever had. Lolly cake was a good portion size for the price very tasty and the best way to end off brunch. If your looking for a good place that will leave your belly fully and the food cravings at bay Sip society cafe is your place. 10/10 ”

“ What an incredible find! My husband and I weren't sure where to eat but after a walk around a few streets we discovered Global Bite. We saw lots of people eating so that was a great sign. We were served by a school boy who was absolutely delightful. He was friendly, professional and made us feel very welcome. The fries were fantastic and very generous, and our bagels super tasty. So many hidden flavours! My husband loved his coffee. He loves a flat white with hazelnut and this beautiful cafe served the perfect ratio of coffee and hazelnut. My English breakfast tea was great, and I was very pleased to have sweetener. I need this. The service was so genuine, professional and welcoming, and the cafe gets everything right. We wish we had this place in Christchurch, as we'd be regulars! Thank you so much for such a great experience. I think the owner must be the blonde lady? Absolutely amazing. Such a genuine person. Thank you. ”

“ We went here for lunch on Sunday.. We found that the food was very average.. The end of the sausage roll was hard and dry, the toast sandwich was sprinkled with an unusual sauce, and there was too much seasoning in the bread filling. So it Took over the taste. ”

“ Spacious, large selection of sweet and savory baked goods. I loved the moist Belgian waffles drizzled with maple syrup, yogurt and berry compote. Mocha was excellent (though I’ve yet to find a place in New Zealand during my visit that doesn’t serve excellent coffee.) ”

“ Best mocha I've had yet! Breakfast was amazing! We had the all day breakfast, wedges & salmon bagel. Have returned several times since and service has been consistent Pics are same meals & mochaz but different days. Have become a regular. Keep up the great service guys! ”

“ From the moment we stood at the food cabinet trying to decide on what to have we were greeted with smiles and friendly hellos from the staff, a good way to start your experience in a cafe. It was not super busy, which for me was great as you could have a conversation and actually hear what people were saying. The food in the cabinet looked very appetizing, but we ordered off the menu, eggs benedict, seafood chowder, coffee, and a slice from the cabinet. The eggs were cooked just right, runny yolk and set white, tasty hollandaise and the english muffin was soft and easy to eat, the seafood chowder was tasty, creamy and good chucks of seafood in it and a big bowl, we'll worth the money for this. The coffee was perfect in both temperature and flavor and the slice well it was sweet and delicious just to cap off a great lunch. Thanks for making the visit to your cafe an enjoyable one. ”

“ Lunch for 2. Toasted sandwich (big thick one with loads of filling), seafood chowder (tasty, creamy, not a obvious chunks of seafood, but was very nice, came with a little bread. Add tea, and a smoothie (which was very good according to my husband), and a piece of fudge $47 bucks. Staff were lovely and food delivered in a timely fashion. Lastest visit disappointed with our eggs, hard poached eggs! Criminal! ”
